His greatest fear: Anything small, fuzzy, fluffy, feathery, or flappy. If it's smaller than An's hooves, it's real, real bad.

I suppose this is trauma, from a not-quite-abusive owner, more ignorant than anything else, who would be constantly leaving birdseed absolutely everywhere. To be fair, his first owner had died suddenly of the influenza, having a weakened immune system, and left An to an elderly aunt. This Aunt hated everything not human, everything alive - except her world-renowned peacocks. Aunt begrudgingly took him in, with the intention of moving him on as soon as possible, but a week later her favourite bird - a vitiligo peafowl - fell ill right before her eggs were due to be laid. Aunt was at her side at all times, with not a single care wasted, until the eggs had hatched, and the chicks had left their mother. Two months later, and An was a permanent resident, and officially sick of having small, adorable, fluffy peacock chicks jumping out of his food, his bedding, even his poo once.
Months later, and Aunt realised she could be giving him a much better life by giving him to a loving home.
